Shit a lot of people don’t realize it either but like by the time you get to the fall of 1999 while it was still a shell of where it was in 98 the Buy rates and the ratings were starting to slowly come back. They did 235K for Halloween Havoc and they were getting back to 3.5 for nitro. As much as I love Vince Russo in the WWF and TNA he never should’ve been brought into WCW. It wasn’t his style of wrestling. The audience didn’t want his style of booking. WCW would have rebounded to something survival in 2000 if they had just stuck to what they were doing in October 1999 as well. At that point Dusty Rhodes had come back to the creative team and he was actually booking a lot more than Nash even was at that time. Nash would be phased out before Russo even came in and at that point Terry Taylor had come back Dusty Rhodes and then by the time you get to 2000 Johnny Ace comes in and ignoring what you think about his current situation he was a really good creative hand and Terry Taylor and Johnny Ace and Dusty Rhodes in 2000 would’ve turned WCW around 1000% but history doesn’t work like that unfortunately.
WCW honestly had like five different points they could’ve turned the ship back around, but every single time they panicked and went right back into the skid.
