Towards the end of the WWE RAW event last night in Dublin, Ireland, the lights went out and The Undertaker's bell went off. WWE ring announcer Tony Chimel then announced that WWE's tour of Europe next April in 2010 would be a part of The Undertaker's retirement.

There's been a lot of talk about Undertaker lightening his schedule, but the word "retirement" hasn't been brought up by any backstage sources recently.

It seems unusual that WWE would announce something as big as the retirement of one of their biggest stars like this but two different fan reports from the show say the same thing. We will definitely follow up on this as soon as possible.

That's pretty interesting, because I could actually see them announcing that. It's a house show, so they don't expect it to get out, and they're trying to get people to come back the next year. Plus, next year seems likely for a time for Taker to retire.

Nah, it shouldn't, but I'd love to see al ast match between Taker and Triple H.

This tiem has been coming for a while now - kind of surprised to see them actually announce it to a house crowd rather than a tv show but still liking it nonetheless. Hopefully he gets that feud with Jericho for now which should be pretty epic and then I'm thinking that maybe we can see CM Punk turn heel and try to end the streak, you never know. Or since Kane is back on SD he'll cost Taker the last match in the feud with Jericho and that leads to Kane ending the streak at WM26.

Yuuup. I just wonder how he'll go out. With a win at Mania? Farewell speech...very unlikely. Descend into hell? lol

Sincerely I want him to lose his last match. If they can be intelligent about this and actually begin slowly building a younger guy up now by the time WrestleMania 26 rolls around they can take one of their younger guys who hasn't quite jumped up to the next level and make him a mega star for years to come.

Personally and this will never happen, I'd like to see John Morrison feud with HBK for most of the rest of the year and then when it comes time have him challenge Undertaker at WM to prove that he is better than HBK and have him beat Taker where HBK could not.

Pardon my wet dream.

Pardon mine as well. That's a pretty fucking awesome scenario.

Pfft, like that's ever stopped them before. Especially around SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Rumble time. Those are all big PPVs that could logically feature cross brand matches and they're all lumped within a 6 month period. Morrison/HBK from SS till the Rumble then Morrison/Taker from then on.

Not to mention if Taker happens to have the title at next year's Mania, and Morrison were to :)jerk:) win the Rumble, he could simply cross brands.

On the other hand if Morrison doesn't float your boat I'd say from the current roster guys who could be best built up in the year are:

(List is in no order beyond when I saw their face on the WWE.com roster page)

Matt Hardy
MVP
Chris Jericho (Could easily do it, but I'd still rather not see it even though I  Jericho)
Jack Swagger

I don't think I could really buy any one else at this point.

Nice scenario, but the question here is... Who is that chosen one? I dont see Morrison as the one to get that huge push. I dont see him having that "it" factor. Im not sure, but they might just give it to Punk (Eventhough I dont like him at all).
