So after a much needed week long vacation I'm back with a new idea for a column. Essentially what I'm going to do is take the current week's Raw and fix it up to be far more appealing and sensible. I'm not going to change matches or angles but work with what they give me and I'll make it better if necessary. Anyway, on with the show.
The opening segment with Prinze was good. He came off as genuinely wanting to be there and showed that he was a real wrestling fan. Excellent. However I would've cut the Santino comedy bit and just skipped right to Orton's attack on Prinze freeing up a few extra minutes for the matches later on. Otherwise great segment and everybody did theie jobs well.
Kofi vs Carlito w/ Rosa
Great match although I wondered what Rosa was doing with Carlito. I know they had a mixed tag match against Kofi and Mickie but that doesn't explain why she's out there with Carlito. Either way I would've changed this to a non-title match and had Carlito go over with the help of Rosa on the outside. This could lead to a match on SS or next week's Raw where Carlito gets a title shot and brings Rosa to the ring again but Kofi counters by bringing Mickie with him.
Miz vs Bourne
Nothing wrong with this match at all. But I would;ve used the time I saved by cutting out Santino to give them a few extra minutes. Other than that, great.
The DX entrance into the building was dumb. Would've cut all of it and just had them do the bit where Shawn was hesitant to get out of the limo and them making their way to the ring. No Santino again and no Jillian.
The in ring segment with DX and Legacy was perfect, nothing could possibly be done to make that more effective.
Mickie vs Gail
Bah. Other than the blown spots it was fine and the winner was fine too. Nothing changing there.
Swagger vs MVP
Again a lot of the time saved from the opening segment, the DX entrance and the next match could've been used here for actual entrances and a bit of a longer match that would end with Swagger getting intentionally DQ'd as opposed to stupidly DQ'd.
Hornswoggle vs Chavo
I wouldn't even put this on my show. Ever. Cut for more time for better matches.
Jericho & Show vs Cena & Orton
Prinze making it a lumberjack match with guys that would hate Orton was great. The match itself would've had more time to do some good work. Orton refusing the first tag was dumb. He should've worked together with Cena at the beginning while they were in control only to deny Cena the tag when Cena was in trouble needing to get out of the ring. At that point Orton would've tried to bail on the match only to have the lumberjacks force Orton back on the apron where he's blindly tagged by Cena and forced to enter the ring. At this point Cena bails on Orton with the approval of the lumberjacks leaving Orton with Show and Jericho to get beaten and take the fall at the end of the match. This harms nobody as Jericho isn't taking a useless fall. Cena gets one up on Orton heading into SS and the lumberjacks actually meant something to the match.
All in all it wasn't a bad show, it was good for the most part but a few tweaks here and there would've helped tremendously.
