When the World Champion used to be on talk shows they just called him the WWE World Champion, but that's exactly what he was.

So you essentially just had two WWE World Champions.

Why couldn't they just fucking name it World Tag Team Championships and WWF Tag Team Championships, these absolute dumb-fucks.

It's world's fuckinf better than Raw and SmackDown titles. Lame as fucking shit.

I wouldn't mind one being the Universal Tag Team Titles since it would match the main SD belt name, though.

And it's dumb to have two belts with the same name and classification. The name should give you an exact idea of which one you are talking about. Both belts shouldn't be WWE World Titles. It makes zero logical sense. Especially to people outside the bubble as I demonstrated.

At least Raw and SmackDown are their own brands as WWF and WCW were.

Naming one Raw and the other SD is no different than WWF and WCW. They're supposed to represent their own isolated talent roster.

Again, though, wouldn't have a problem if the SD brand had Universal Tag Team Titles, though.

Gotta say I was confused as hell when I saw that the Street Profits were the SD tag champs on Twitter

No shocked to see WWE do this, but it would of been a way better idea to see Street Profits lose those titles and New Day having to chase like only they can.

Apparently the Street Profits are also considered the second triple crown tag champions bc of this too bc they've "won" NXT, Raw, and now SmackDown.

Honestly, I'm still not that mad about it. Saves us a lot of nonsense, the way I see it. Plus, how else would the lineages continue? Making the SD lineage the new Raw lineage and vice versa would have just been extra bullshit. They handled it as cleanly and as simply as they could have given the circumstances (which they created).

Nah this adds an extra reign to each that essentially doesn't need to happen so while it's cleaner in a way, I think swapping the lineages really would have just been the easiest I don't really care either way though, it's just hilarious to me.

But I do rank those extra reigns as higher as far as "nonsense" goes than switching the lineages would have been.....but ya know I also just wouldnt have drafted my tag champs to different brands but that's just me

I'm with Chris. They swapped the tag belts yearly it seemed in the og split. Change the names on the lineages, but otherwise same reigns.

I don't remember them ever swapping tag belts actually? The names that one time when the SD ones were first made in '02 but I think they were unique to SD until the unification

Why though? The Street Profits were reigning as Raw Champions, then they gave them up and are now reigning as Smackdown Champions. Seem like it should be 2 reigns to me.

I mean it's a bogus way to "win" a championship but it's not the first or last time someone is getting a reign without actually winning a match to begin it.
