The Israeli government has illegally detained Irish Senator Chris Andrews, who was present on the flotilla sending humanitarian aid to Gaza, a gross overstepping of Israel's military authority.

I typically don't talk politics on here, it's just quite bothersome to my mental health and I like to avoid it and I get enough of it on social media. But one opinion I have that I've not heard anyone else anywhere mention is that regarding the government shutdown federal employees should continue to get paid their full salaries and the money should come from Congress' salaries if necessary. And if it takes one month of Congress' combined salaries to pay for one day of all federal employees salaries then so be it. Elected officials from The President and Congress down to the mayor and city council are always arguing over money. Hell, every year there's an election somewhere nearby voting to increase taxes to fund the schools. But there's never a vote on raising the salaries of the elected officials. And yet their salaries still get raised. It's been said that raising their own salaries is the one issue Democrats and Republicans always agree on.
