For a long, long time, a common complain between wrestling fans was the lack of importance given to midcard titles, the US belt and the IC Championship. The IC belt was nothing more than a prop when wore by Jeff Hardy and Chris Jericho, and was practically ignored when hold by CM Punk, William Regal and JBL.

The US Championship made Shelton Benjamin job to guys beneath him (yeah, I know), just so that he could face the same guy three weeks later in a title match at Smackdown. That was the closest thing to a feud he got. MVP? Good first reign, altough it became a prop towards the end and his second reign ranks in there with Matt Hardy as useless reigns.

But as of late, this championships have been brough back to importance. Rey Mysterio has given importance to the IC belt, and we have gotten actual feuds for it, first with Jericho, giving the belt a much needed importance and now with Dolph Ziggler.

In Raw, surprisingly, the US belt has not gotten lost in the shuffle as of now. For once, they are actually directing their midcard towards the midcard belt, and you now that at any point Swagger, Bourne, Carlito, Primo, The Miz, MVP, Mark Henry if they get tired of teasing him in upper midcard, anybody can step up and face Kofi Kingston, and different to other times, is not a case in which you THINK it might happen, but it actually has happened (6 pack challenge anyone?, constant title matches on Superstars and Raw sorrounding the belt).

So, is it finally safe to say that this midcard belts have gotten their credibility restored?

Rey vs. Jericho did wonders for the IC belt. I also think the switch to SD also helped the IC title greatly due to the different talent that can hold it.

The US title still doesn't impress me. Kofi is a lack luster champ. The move to Raw didn't do much for it. The 6 Pack challenge basically showed you who "could" hold the belt, but nothing came out of it because Kofi retained. Sure if Swagger, Bourne, or MVP get their hands on it, it would be better, but Kofi is not doing anything for that belt.

Kofi needs to calm his goofy ass down and lower both his eyes brows, I swear he's trying to "Out-eye brow" the Rock.

I wouldn't say that there creditibilty is totally restored as such. Yes they have had a lot more attentension lately and that a good thing and they are defenietly going in the right direction with the 2 midcard titles. But it would have to go on this way for awhile yet till id say there credibility had fully restored. But yep they are deffo on the right track though.

If anything, I still think they aren't showing any importance in the US title. And this last ppv should that pretty well. Bourne had a pinfall victory over Kingston twice I think, so did Big Show atleast once against Kingston and once agaisnt Bourne, yet Bourne nor Big show wasn't in the title match at the ppv. Swagger beat MVP a week or 2 before the ppv yet MVP was in the title match. Carlito and Primo for some reason was thrown in the match, and the Miz was randomly added in. Although he beat Primo, which should eliminate Primo from the match. It seemed like the match was just thrown together with guys who had nothing to do at the ppv.

I think Kofi could be a real good champ, but WWE aren't really showing that I should care about the belt.

The IC title has been restored. The U.S. title has not been restored yet. If a former world champion wins the belt and has entertaining feuds with it, than it will be restored. That is how the IC belt was restored.

Let's not forget the tag titles are getting a touch of life breathed into them too. Better, but not totally fixed yet....

I agree, that currently the US title is the weak link... No reflection on Kofi - I was glad to see him retain @ NOC. The fans are behind him and he's having decent matches it's just that the booking has been pretty horrible... I ranted about it elsewhere already, but the run-up to the 6-pack challenge(***) beng a perfect illustration of this.... Bourne doesn't get a title shot dispite having beat Kofi (pressumably because Show, who'd also beat Kofi, had in turn beat him, but this was NEVER addressed), next thing ya know Show's out at the last minute and being replaced by someone who's yet to have a successful singles match since going solo (Primo).

(***Incidentally, I dunno what the fuss was about with peeps voting it match of the night... I thought it was TOTALLY fogettable.)
