For a long, long time, a common complain between wrestling fans was the lack of importance given to midcard titles, the US belt and the IC Championship. The IC belt was nothing more than a prop when wore by Jeff Hardy and Chris Jericho, and was practically ignored when hold by CM Punk, William Regal and JBL.
The US Championship made Shelton Benjamin job to guys beneath him (yeah, I know), just so that he could face the same guy three weeks later in a title match at Smackdown. That was the closest thing to a feud he got. MVP? Good first reign, altough it became a prop towards the end and his second reign ranks in there with Matt Hardy as useless reigns.
But as of late, this championships have been brough back to importance. Rey Mysterio has given importance to the IC belt, and we have gotten actual feuds for it, first with Jericho, giving the belt a much needed importance and now with Dolph Ziggler.
In Raw, surprisingly, the US belt has not gotten lost in the shuffle as of now. For once, they are actually directing their midcard towards the midcard belt, and you now that at any point Swagger, Bourne, Carlito, Primo, The Miz, MVP, Mark Henry if they get tired of teasing him in upper midcard, anybody can step up and face Kofi Kingston, and different to other times, is not a case in which you THINK it might happen, but it actually has happened (6 pack challenge anyone?, constant title matches on Superstars and Raw sorrounding the belt).
So, is it finally safe to say that this midcard belts have gotten their credibility restored?
