BACKSTORY
In late 2006 the RISE promotion held the inaugural RISE Weight of the World tournament. To crown the first ever RISE World Champion. The RISE WOTW concluded with a thrilling singles match between the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson and the “Wrestling Machine” Kurt Angle. With the latter claiming victory by way of an Angle Slam off the top rope.

Following the crowning of the “Wrestling Machine” Kurt Angle as RISE World Champion. The company hosted a press conference in which they revealed that starting in 2007. They would be hosting semi frequent events under the RISE banner, with the first event being called RISE Chapter 1: In the Beginning.

RISE Chapter One: In the Beginning – 28/1



Singles Match
Homicide VS Rhett Titus

The opening contest was a singles match which pitted Homicide against Rhett Titus. It concluded with the latter aka Titus going up to the top rope to attempt a Frog Splash. Only to crash and burn into the canvas of the squared circle when his opponent moved out of the way. From here Homicide returned to his feet and dragged Titus up and hit the Gringo Killer for the pin.
Winner: Homicide



Singles Match
Jimmy Rave VS Mr Kennedy
Next up was another one-on-one men’s division match as Jimmy Rave and Mr Kennedy squared off with each other. It concluded with Kennedy getting the win, with the Green Bay Plunge off the top rope.
Winner: Mr Kennedy


Singles Match
El Generico VS Kenney Omega

In third match of the night a clash of Canadians took place as El Generico went one on one with Kenny Omega. This match was thrilling from the get go and the fans in attendance were split right down the middle in terms of who they were backing. Omega put his opponent aka Generico down for the count with Croyt’s Wrath.
Winner: Kenny Omega


Tag Team Match
The Briscoes VS The Hardy’s

After that it was time for some tag team action as two brother duos waged war with each other. On one side of the ring the team of Jay and Mark Briscoe aka the Briscoes and on the other the Hardy brothers in the forms of Jeff and Matt Hardy. It went for around ten minutes and could have gone either way but it would be Jeff Hardy pinning Mark Briscoe with a Swanton Bomb.

Winners: The Hardy’s


Number One Contender – RISE World Championship
Low Ki VS Monty Brown VS Shingo Takagi

The penultimate match was a triple threat match to crown a new number one contender to the RISE World Championship. The field of competition of the three-way match was made up by the trio of Low Ki, Monty Brown and Shingo Takagi. A dominate Monty Brown ended up getting the pin on KI thanks to the Alpha Bomb.

RISE World Championship – 2 Out of 3 Falls

Finally, the night concluded with a rematch of the final of the RISE Weight of the World tournament. Between the pairing of the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson and the “Wrestling Machine” Kurt Angle©. Only with two different details attached to the encounter, first it was for the RISE World Championship. And second this rematch between the two men wasn’t another singles match, no this time around it was a two out of three falls match. Angle got the first fall thanks to an Angle Slam, then Bryan fired back with a Regal-Plex to even the score. The third and deciding fall concluded with a thrilling pin reversal which resulted with Angle getting the win.
