You aren't the only one to play COD for the story. I have a 8 trophies from Black Ops Cold War and I got all eight from playing the campaign. I snuck onto a friend's PS5 a few years back with my PSN account to play that game's story mode. I enjoyed Vanguard. But I would have to borrow it from a friend. I played it on a friend's Xbox and almost completed the campaign.
