An unusual set of circumstances, following controversy in the qualifiers for the tournament forcing Commisioner Slaughter to go a bizarre route; Edge & Christian battle the New Age Outlaws in the quarter-finals but Slaughter makes it clear that the winning team will have to designate one person of the team to compete in the semi-finals. It is Steve Austin's turn to do the dual championship title defenses on this special airing from Washington, DC a week before Rock Bottom. The show is headlined by a Bullrope Match between WWF Champion Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon, who clearly wants anybody but Stone Cold as WWF Champion, even if he has to take the title away from him himself. Elsewhere, the Outlaws defend their tag titles against Big Boss Man & Ken Shamrock, the Hardyz battle the Brood; Mankind pulls double duty as well by facing first Kane and then Undertaker in a #1 Contenders Steel Cage Match.
