Does a celebrities personal life affect how you see their talent?

The question that I am asking here is, do you think what a celebrity does or how they act make you not like whatever they do. For example, do you think Chris Brown sucks because he's a jackass? Or do you separate those two and listen to his music and put the fact he's a jackass aside?

However, to back up my point, I hate Sean Penn and Mark Ruffalo with a passion because of their stupid political rants, but I'd watch any movie either was in because I respect them as actors.
