Watching last nights WWE Pay Per View, Elimination Chamber, I noticed that ALOT of the content was really predictable. When I say predictable I mean that most of us knew that either Chris Jericho or HBK would win the WHC do to some kind of controversy. We all knew that HBK wouldn't go a PPV without an appearance.

I'm not saying that the whole show was predictable, but I am saying that some of the vital points of the show were predictable. My question is, does this affect the product? Does it affect how you view the product?

IMO, I think that it makes the product look a little bit more conveniant, so to speak. When I say conviniant, I mean that it makes the product look a little bit more like a TV show than it should. It makes it look like you could predict what would happen in the next show, and that could affect how you watch the show IF you even watch the show.

Thoughts?

In a way I agree, but then again sometimes being predictable is a good thing. As we've seen in the past, Vince likes to throw us a curveball occasionally when we think something is a lock to happen. And often, the predicted outcome would have been better than the random stuff.

However they should have matches where you think both contenders, especially in title matches, have a good chance of winning. I mean, we all knew Kane wasn't going to win this past Sunday.

I don't think there has been a true element of surprise in WWE in years, so this is kind of a delayed point. You ever think it's due to constantly reading internet reports and spending time on a forum discussing rumors, spoilers and such? I bet if you didn't check wrestling news sites and such, although it may still be kind of obvious...there may be just a touch more surprise to the product.

Wrestling booking also follows a pretty standard pattern for the most part, so if you've been watching it for any more than five years and can't tell what's coming 90% of the time anyway then you're just blind.

Almost everything in the WWE is predictable or in wrestling in general. It just matters how much you watch their content really.

What does it really matter anyway? We still watch it, regardless of whether if it's predictable or not.

We're all addicted and there is no saving us.

I agree with alot of what you are saying but this isnt something new. Lets face it WWE has been predictable with main event outcomes in the past alot especially around this time. No Way Out 2001 everyone knew the Rock would defeat Angle for the title and go on to challenge Austin at Mania. Survivor Series 2002 you knew HBK would win the Elimination Chamber. Backlash 03 you knew Goldberg would beat The Rock. Lets not forget that most rumble winners go on to win the world title at Mania.

^^^Those are some terrible examples in comparison to the EC PPV. Not to mention that Rumble winners - dont always go onto win the title at Mania. Look at Orton, at WM25...

I think this is a terrible point to bring up over the EC PPV. In respect that I, amongst A LOT of people, thought Orton would be going out as WWE Champion. Yet, he was first eliminated. Then who did you all think would win? Trips? Sheamus? No, Cena won. THEN. VKM comes out, and Batista steals the title off Cena. If you can say you saw all that coming, you're a fucking douche who just wants attention.

As for the rest of the PPV, I didn't watch the womens/US/IC matches so I can't comment. The HBK/Taker thing I was iffy about. I didn't know which way they were going to go about HBK - whether it'd be HBK/Taker or HBK/HHH. So when he popped up from under the outside - which I may add is the last place I expected him to see him come from - I knew what was going to happen.

As for unexpected shit to happen in the last few years, big thing that comes to mind is Cena returning at the Rumble. I also recall there being news reports he wouldn't make it to Mania that year. I think this is something WWE, or wrestling entertainment in general, need to utilise in storylines. Occasionally throw in a trick report, to build surprise returns etc.

People say random stuff and then when the outcome is slightly similar, then they go berzerk saying they predicted what happened.

So you say HBK would somehow be involved in the PPV...that's a prediction? Gimme a break. Prediction is to say HBK would get involve in the SD EC match and cost Taker the belt. The closest somebody here came to that prediction was saying HBK would attack Morrison and get in the chamber.

Likewise for the Raw chamber. The person above is right. Nobody saw the Batista deal coming, hell people were saying Cena didn't even have a chance at winning, they said it would come down to HHH and Sheamus.

It's been predictable for a very long time now.

Predictability really takes the interest down from something. I want to be surprised, not be able to call a match before it happens. How long have I been calling Taker vs HBK, streak vs career, and look what happened today. I want to be sitting here saying HOLY SHIT, AWESOME!!! not I KNEW IT.
