New Year, New Section? Mafia '26 Phase 2 Signups

This one went well, so I'm going to host another. It'll be a different, but still fairly simple setup with new roles to enjoy!

What the hell is a Mafia anyway?
It's a social deduction game that you can play just by posting here. The Mafia kill at night and then the Town try to identify them by day. Some people have roles that make that easier (if Town) or harder (if Mafia). During the day you have a vote to decide whom to eliminate. It's easier done practically, really.

I'll need 9 players this time. Game start will be no earlier than January 1, 2026.

This question goes to everyone who wants to answer, + @Chris because he knows his stuff

Some feedback on things may be needed:

• 24h Nights were the most complained about part of this game, the impression was that they were too long.
• On a similar note, 24h Days. Maybe those are too short, given that there's no Night posting. Considering moving to 48h Days / 24h Nights, to allow more discussion while not making the Nights drag too much.
• Majority eliminations only? There actually was technically a coin flip scenario last game where Town could have survived D3 but since Mafia had parity I decided to dismiss it. On the other hand, majority elimination would have prevented the big play that defined last game.

Please let me know what's best, because I felt my approach was a little suboptimal.

I don't want majority, I like no night posting. 12 hour N1 is just risky bc more people, more likely someone misses deadline. 24 or or longer days is fine, I didn't think 24 was too short this game

I would have gone with that from the start but that creates possible OGI about who was on between start and end of Night so I've tried to stick to consistent Night lengths.

I'm fine with 24h days. A lot can get done in a day with talking I feel like, but the long nights just drag. Like I said, I was NERVOUS waiting that whole 24 hours to see if my protection paid off. I also was worried that if Chris was scum, he had a role where if someone visits they die. So I was just sweating and waiting to see what happened. Soon as I saw there was no kill I was relived and THOUGHT we could get the victory. So yeah 12h nights please lol.

As far as majority it is what it is, I'll take either that or just whoever has the most at end of day.

I think a good recommendation is usually running with 36 hour Day 1, 18 Hour Night 1, and then switching to 24 hr days and 12 hr nights after.

I'm fine with no night posting either, and personally I'd be okay with plurality vote at deadline.

I like this. And yeah I think no night posting and plurality are way better than the alternatives. There's obvious scenarios where plurality can fuck some stuff but it's fine most of the time

What we did basically. Most votes are deadline goes. The alternative is majority which means if you need 4 votes you HAVE to get them or no one dies
