Wade Barrett Clarifies WWE Status
Wade Barrett addressed reports of his removal from the main roster commentary team, stating on social media that his absence is a pre-approved personal leave and confirming he will return to work as scheduled.

Wade Barrett has publicly refuted reports claiming he has been removed from the WWE main roster commentary team. On social media, Barrett clarified that his current absence is a two-week personal leave that was approved by the company nine months ago, and he will be returning to his role immediately after.
In his statement, Barrett cited a need to stop negative feedback directed at his colleagues as the reason for addressing the rumors. “I usually ignore BS reports like this, but it’s causing needless hate to be spewed towards people I work with,” Barrett wrote on Twitter. “WWE have kindly given me a couple of weeks off for personal time (booked nine months ago), and then I’m back to business as usual. A complete non-story. The end.”
Barrett’s denial was a direct response to a PWInsider report that he was no longer part of WWE’s commentary rotation and would be taken off the road going forward.
Those reports gained traction following WWE’s recent confirmation that Michael Cole and Corey Graves would become the permanent commentary team for both Raw and SmackDown. That change was made to accommodate Joe Tessitore’s current absence while he covers the college football season.
The speculation about Barrett’s role also came shortly after he publicly resolved a disagreement with Nikki Bella that stemmed from comments he made during the Clash in Paris pre-show. Barrett later confirmed on X that the two had spoken and “smoothed things over,” while also condemning personal attacks directed at Bella online.
Barrett’s confirmed return is expected to clarify how WWE intends to structure its main roster commentary teams alongside Cole and Graves.
