Alright here we go. Firstly, I love the visual of the NWA Title hanging over the ring all night, showing what everybody will be fighting for in the main event. I know there are other divisions, and not everybody is in the title scene, but I would have loved if young hopefuls' kind of glanced up at the title throughout the night, teasing their future ambitions or whatever. This isn't necessarily criticism or anything for not having it, just thought it would have been cool. One thing I enjoy with your shows is that your promos don't overstay their welcome. Sharp and to the point, it makes them a breeze to read. A couple of points on the promos, first one is nit picky, but Awesome said "pry this NWA Title" out of his hands, sounding as if he's in possession of the title, but I'm pretty sure it's above the ring. Like I said, nit picky and not important at all, but just something I noticed.

All the promos were fine for the hype for the big ladder match, which delivered. Plenty of spots, carnage, interference, teases, all really well done. I'm shocked Scott Hall won just because he really hasn't felt like a main character compared to some of the other guys in this match so far. I like the shock though, Hall deserved to be champion at some point (although probably not in 2002 lol). But yeah, this was good and has me really excited to see how the title picture develops from here.

One call out is I'm just not big on the swearing in promos here. I know that probably comes off hypocritical with some of the stuff I've written in the past, but this is TNA, not ECW. It just kind of throws me off each time it happens haha.

The X Division continues to be pretty epic. You're booking it really well so far. AJ/Red would have been a lot of fun, and the showcase match to. I'm glad Daniels won, as I can't help but feel he'll want another match with Shelton Benjamin soon.

Speaking of Shelton, Thug Pound stable is epic. I've complimented you repeatedly on your use of Shelton so far and that continues here. Really good. Also, Ki and Homicide better go over AMW again on Sept 18th.

The continued teases of a Monty Brown/Abyss confrontation continue to excite me.

I also thought the Mick Foley explanation was fine. Funk returning to save Foley from the numbers is fine. By god, the tag team of Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie are back together again. I assume we're heading towards Foley/Corino in an epic one on one encounter, but being that every show is a PPV and you need to sell that shit, we're likely to get some epic Foley/Funk tagging against Corino and co first. The journey to get there should be fun.

For some reason, Diamond and Swinger debuting here never really crossed my mind, but giving Doring some back up to deal with Roadkill works. An Amish working with some pimps could be some vignette gold, btw.

Awesome debut for The Briscoes. Right away they are on the radar in the EPIC tag division. Great booking.

And I don't have any idea where it will end up, but I am thoroughly enjoying the Lawler character work at the moment.

Arguably my favourite show of the BTB so far. You da man.

Press Release: Nashville, TN (September 7, 2002)

THERE’S A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN

FZKeGkO.png

NWA:TNA has officially announced the hiring of Pro Wrestling Legend Dusty Rhodes!
His role has been labeled “TNA Sheriff” as he will help TNA President Jim Cornette police the roster and try to keep the peace. Cornette has stated that Dusty will be able to create matches, suspend wrestlers, and anything else that needs to be done in order to keep the show in one piece!

Jim Cornette and Dusty Rhodes stood outside of The Asylum this afternoon, giving us a quick glimpse of the new power structure of TNA. Jim Cornette started things off for this makeshift press conference:

“It’s becoming increasingly difficult to manage the crazy men we employ. The Jarrett’s aren’t too happy when a wall is knocked down, when a fight breaks out backstage- that all costs money, and we are on a shoestring budget to begin with…Plus, I’m tired of getting my ass chewed out when I have to add another expense to the weekly budget. I welcome Dusty with open arms, and plan on giving him all of the scarce resources I have at my disposal to help run things, but I’m not too sure he knows what he’s walking into. All I know is I am tired of looking over my shoulder, waiting for Monty Brown or Rhino to come crashing through my office!”

Dusty, however, seemed a lot more upbeat and ready for the challenge:

“I’m bringing years and years of experience here to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, baby! There’s a neeeeww Sheriff in town, and I have my eye on a few people that are part of a certain faction, in particular…and yes, I know this man has more influence than me and potentially signs my checks…but Jeff Jarrett has run roughshod over TNA and he is number one on my list to keep in check!”

While Cornette seems to be burnt out with the insane, chaotic pace of the TNA roster, he has no intentions of stepping aside…

“Drawing a salary for working one night a week? You would have to check me into the insane asylum they pulled Abyss from to give this job up. I love every minute of it! I’m just tired of doing it all on my own. Dusty’s job is to step in the middle of fights now. Not me!”

Dusty chuckled at the line from Cornette, before finishing things off:

“Jim doesn’t want to end up in the hospital, and I understand that. But, that’s why I’m here now. And I’m ready to do my job, and I can’t wait for September 18!”

The press conference then ended as Cornette led Dusty inside The Asylum, giving him a tour of his new home!

BT NOTE: Just a brief check-in to announce Dusty’s arrival to TNA. Didn’t want to spend time on the show explaining his random appearance, plus I’m not used to this break quite yet. In due time. I’ll have the preview up sometime this week, and then we hit the ground running on September 18! Enjoy!

“UNLEASHED”

“Scott Hall has finally done it! Scott Hall is YOUR NEW NWA WORLD CHAMPION!”
-“Professor” Mike Tenay- 8/28/02

The last time Total Nonstop Action was filling your television with chaos and excitement, Scott Hall captured the NWA World Championship in a thrilling Seven Man Ladder Match!

After a three week vacation, TNA IS BACK THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT! We are back, and we are hitting the ground running, as TNA will become UNLEASHED!

New NWA WORLD CHAMPION SCOTT HALL puts his newly won title on the line against JEFF JARRETT in a match that has serious implications for Jeff Jarrett. TNA President Jim Cornette and new TNA Sheriff Dusty Rhodes have placed a stipulation on this match that if Jarrett loses, HE CAN NO LONGER CHALLENGE FOR THE NWA WORLD TITLE! For how long? Nobody knows! The language in the contract doesn’t say! Basically, this is Jeff Jarrett’s last-ditch effort to gain the NWA World title for a long time! What tricks will Jarrett have up his sleeve this Wednesday night?

MICK FOLEY makes his TNA Debut as he squares off with Steve Corino’s bodyguard, MALICE! With Corino lurking around at ringside, Terry Funk will undoubtedly be on high alert as his buddy Mick Foley looks to start off his TNA run on the right foot!!

The blood feud has reached its peak, as MIKE AWESOME and RAVEN put it all on the line in a NO DQ MATCH!! Fireballs, Awesome Bombs, and everything else in-between have led to this one, as Awesome rightfully places the blame on losing the NWA World title on Raven! Will Raven slay the beast? Or will “The Gladiator” get his revenge?

RHINO, EKMO AND KEN SHAMROCK will do battle in a THREE WAY FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH!! These three can fight all night, and possibly could do such next Wednesday. TNA President Jim Cornette has stated that whoever walks out of this one with the victory, will find themselves in the NWA World title conversation very soon!!

All of this, plus NWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS MURDERAZ ROW defend against AMW!

AJ STYLES
puts his X-Division Championship on the line in what will be his toughest test to date- a FOUR CORNERS MATCH featuring JERRY LYNN, CHRISTOPHER DANIELS and SHELTON BENJAMIN!!

We’ve been away for far too long, which means you all get an EXTENDED EDITION OF TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION on WEDNESAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 18, 2002 LIVE FROM THE ASYLUM!!!

Get ready, because you certainly won’t want to miss this one!!
