I'd recommend reading the lyrics and familiarizing with the vocal style for black Dahlia. It's a single vocalist doing both highs and lows. Once you start appreciating that I think it makes a huge difference. But if course that being said it doesn't guarantee it will resonate with you.

I like my necro fantasy and horror metal and it's not for everyone
I will most likely give their other albums a go, now that they've been suggested.

OUT OF THE CELLAR BY RATT: Liking the vibe of this debut album by Ratt. It is a really solid start to the record with the first two songs really sliding home. Round & Round is a complete anthem though, loving this song. And on follow up FMPOV it certainly was the best song on the album. Back For More was also a solid tune, although there is no doubt that DETONATOR very much seems to be something special in comparison to this first outing. This album is a good eye opener of things to come though, as I find my inner Apple Juice getting more GLAM!

It’s actually their second album their debut is just called Ratt and I guess no longer on Spotify. I have them all on vinyl though. Round and Round is their massive hit, I prefer Lack of Communication but also Wanted Man and Back for More are top tracks as well.

I saw the lead singer live last year and he played this whole album for its 40th anniversary

Nocturnal and Ritual are the two most revered ones for reference. In that order

And now for Finnish winter metal. One of my favorite records in when it's cold and snowy

The 2 first tracks are one of my favorite one two punch ever

I’m not as well versed in metal like others here but Epica, Nightwish, and Within Temptation are worth checking out if you want to listen to some symphonic metal.

Lacuna Coil is another female led metal band worth checking out too.

WINTERSUN BY WINTERSUN: I recognize the album art. Perhaps a past BOTS or something similar. This is what I would call a complete album, because every track feels it is in the right place and I just listened to the whole thing in one take without even pausing or real even wanting to take notes because a particular song was lacking. The standout song for me was Sleeping Stars, but honestly the entire album was a complete journey of success. The flow from one track to the next was just so smooth and the transitions were like a perfect puzzle piece. I don't know what it is, but the Scans just understand how to do Rock and Metal in such a unique and awesome way. The album is honestly such a big hit, especially when you realize there is only eight tracks total. Its like listening to the opera or going to the theatre.

TIME 1 BY WINTERSUN: Sometimes the best follow-up is just another album! Only five song though, this could prove to be interesting. Sons of Winter and Stars was sort of an epic. To be a fourteen minute song and not lose itself or fall off is quite impressive, although I don't think it hitting the same heights as the first album with two songs down. This album is noticeable drop down from the first, but based on the gaps between the albums it feels like a side project. I am curious to find out if the vocalist is involved in any other bands and how they come off, and I'm hoping that the Wintersun x Wintersun isn't the only high point.

Ensiferum_2001.png

ENSIFERUM BY ENSIFERUM: After finding out Wintersun's lead guy Jari Mäenpää first band's name, my mining expedition into this branch will continue. Now this is a pretty cool record, the same sort of atmosphere continues and Token of Time is hitting hard. I love the folk elements to the metal. There is something almost sea shanty about some of these songs too. It not something I was expecting at all, but its quite awesome especially in the early portion of the day coffee and chill. There was also something very interesting about Väinämöinen especially the second part Little Dreamer there is just something very Nordic and mythologic for me about those two songs together as if it would be the perfect accompaniment in a film or video game involving Vikings or Ancient Gods etc. The album was just really enjoyable and it is created from a total tangent. I was going to listen to next album, but after looking that Jari left the band for Wintersun - rather than look at him I am curious what Ensiferum comes off without him. For good or for bad, but earlier post-work is probably the safer bet than anything more recent. And as much as I enjoyed that first Wintersun album, for me I think this has it beat.

From_Afar_%28Ensiferum_album%29_coverart.jpg

FROM AFAR BY ENSIFERUM: After just two songs it is noticeable that there is a different feel to the band. It is still going hard and thematically similar, but there is that difference. It is still good, but correct me if you disagree, but it feels like Jari Mäenpää brought a quality that is very hard to replace. The standout song about halfway through is Heathen Throne but it still is falling short. The best way to describe it I would say is that From Afar is like a Bard recanting in High Fantasy, whilst Ensiferum is a time travelling Skald who was present during a Viking boat landing in Briton. Both are good, but I know what I would prefer to listen too. I'm not certain if I've actually listen to a whole album, but the spider diagram in my head is now reminding me to check out Tyr.

I was going to say "yes, because I submitted it" but turns out I didn't. I'm shocked I've never dropped anything from Wintersun self-titled in there. I've done one from Time 2
