There was just a teacher fired in Florida because she gave a student a 0 because he didnt turn anything in but the school said none gets below a 50. How can you give someone half credit for not doing the work.

I mean will I get half of my paycheck if I didnt show up all the time. Nope.

Bruh that was the dumbest shit in high school bc teachers would still give you below a 50 sometimes if you turned it in but made like a 30, but if you didn't turn it in at all then you got a 50? Shit made no sense lmao

You'd also get harsher punishments for being tardy than just not showing up a lot of times so if you were late then you might as well just say fuck it and skip, I had some college professors that even had dumbass rules like that

Systemic I assume bc most teachers I heard talk about it thought it was dumb af.

We also had shit where like if your assignment was a few days late you'd get knocked a couple letter grades...but then when the end of the 6 weeks (how long our grade periods were) came around they'd just tell you what assignments you were missing and if you turned them in they'd give you full credit I think that was mostly bc the teachers would look bad if a lot of kids failed, especially if it was athletes bc they wouldn't get to play and high school sports, especially football are ridiculous in Texas

That's always how it's been lol. No denying athletes get preferential treatment. My school isn't known for athletics other than basketball though.

My school is batshit crazy about attendance but teachers basically do whatever they want. Some teachers at the beginning of the semester would say I don't give a crap how many times you show up. If you fail it's on you. Others count attendance as part of a grade. One teacher would add two percent to your final grade for coming to every class. My school has a policy where if you miss 20% of class you fail but some teachers just ignore it lol.
